How do I create my first design?

Creating your first design in Canvelete takes just a few minutes. Follow this step-by-step guide to get started.

Step 1: Log in to your Dashboard

Go to app.canvelete.com and sign in with your account credentials.

Step 2: Click "New Design"

Find the "New Design" button in the top-right corner of your dashboard. You'll have two options:

• Blank Canvas — Start from scratch with a custom size
• From Template — Use a pre-made design as your starting point

Tip: If you're new, starting from a template is the fastest way to learn how Canvelete works.

Step 3: Set Your Canvas Size

Choose from common presets or enter custom dimensions:

Use the left sidebar to add elements to your canvas:

• Text — Click the Text tool and type your content
• Images — Upload your own or browse our stock library
• Shapes — Add rectangles, circles, lines, and more
• Backgrounds — Set solid colors or gradients

Step 5: Name Your Layers

Warning: This step is critical for API generation!

Double-click any element to rename it. Use descriptive names that will become your API parameters:

- recipient_name
- product_image
- event_date
- company_logo

Bad examples:
- Text 1
- Image 2
- Layer 3

Step 6: Save Your Design

Click "Save" or press Ctrl/Cmd + S. Your design is now ready for API generation!

Tip: Best Practices for Layer Names:

• Keep names lowercase with underscores (e.g., main_title)
• Use descriptive, meaningful names
• Avoid spaces and special characters
• Group related elements for easier management

Use the Preview feature to test different data before going live. This helps catch layout issues early.
